LayerX Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative: CEO Yoshinori Fukushima; hereinafter referred to as "LayerX"), which aims to digitalize all economic activities, conducted a survey on the actual state of "analog tasks*1" associated with core system operations and management speed, targeting 100 executives from large corporations with 2,000 or more employees, who oversee corporate planning, accounting/finance, and information systems departments.

*1: In this survey, "analog tasks" refer to operations performed by humans to ensure proper core system operation, such as "manual data entry into systems," "transcription," "data consistency checks," and "input content verification."

Background and Objective of the Survey

Collecting and aggregating data necessary for management decisions tends to take longer as company size increases. To address this challenge, investments in core systems have progressed, mainly among large corporations. However, even after implementing systems, it is not uncommon for manual analog tasks such as data entry, transcription, and consistency checks to remain.

LayerX focused on "real-time management," which involves grasping daily management figures in a timely manner to accelerate decision-making, and conducted a survey on the actual speed of grasping figures necessary for management decisions and the incidence of analog tasks associated with core system operations.

Summary

- While 83.0% of large corporations responded that they are proactive in DX, only 35.0% are able to grasp monthly management figures "within one day."

83.0% are active in DX initiatives. On the other hand, regarding the grasp of figures necessary for management decisions, only 35.0% responded "real-time (within one day)." "About 2-3 days" was 27.0%, "about 4-5 days" was 12.0%, and "about 1 week" was 9.0%, indicating a time lag of several days or more in many companies.

- 80.0% responded that "analog tasks" occur for core system operations.

Regarding the incidence of analog tasks for proper core system (ERP, etc.) operation, 19.0% responded "occurs enormously," 37.0% "occurs considerably," and 24.0% "occurs to some extent."

- 71.5% of companies that grasp management figures in real-time responded that a large number of "analog tasks" occur.

Among those who responded that they grasp figures in real-time, 71.5% responded that analog tasks "occur enormously" or "occur considerably." This suggests that the more one tries to grasp management figures in real-time, the more analog tasks are likely to occur.

- 78.0% feel that system investments have not yielded the expected cost-effectiveness.
