Highlights of the Events
1. Diverse programs for parents and children or families to enjoyably learn about "Environment" and "Art" (Kyotanba Town and Nantan City Pre-events)
The pre-events in Kyotanba Town and Nantan City will offer diverse programs for parents and children or families to enjoyably learn about the fair's themes of "environment" and "art."
In Kyotanba Town, participants can create wooden keychains by freely drawing on local Kyotanba wood. In Nantan City, there will be nature and environment-themed picture book readings, "seed dumpling" making, and eco-crafts using recycled dried flowers and plastic bottle caps. These activities encourage active interest and action towards greenery and the environment, such as resource circulation and attachment to plants. Through planting flowers in Sonobe Park, one of the fair's venues, participants themselves will contribute to the creation of the venue space as fair facilitators, thereby heightening anticipation for the main fair.
*"Seed dumplings" are a new seed-sowing method promoted by the Japan Association for Home and Garden Horticulture.
2. An event where participants can experience "Life with Parks in the Future" together (Kameoka City Pre-event)
Near "Kyoto Kameoka Hozugawa Park," which is undergoing development as a fair venue, and at Kamekita Sanga Plaza and Riverside Park north of JR Kameoka Station, a "Sato Festival" (rural festival) will be held, combining "food, nature, and art."
Participants can enjoy a variety of content that allows them to experience the comfort of nature and satoyama (traditional Japanese rural landscape) firsthand, ahead of the main fair. This includes a market featuring Kyoto Tamba ingredients, workshops to experience satoyama culture, and yoga and pilates on the lawn. Projects that allow participants to be involved in park creation "as creators" will also be developed, such as the use of straw art created by participants for the roof of a hut in "Kyoto Kameoka Hozugawa Park." By participating in the event, attendees can feel the atmosphere of the fair and experience the newly emerging park and its lifestyle.
3. A special stage to learn about the charm and wisdom of living with "Greenery" (100 Days Until Opening Event)
To mark 100 days until the opening on June 10, a "100 Days Until Opening Event" will be held on June 6 to build momentum for the main fair. Held at the Nantan City International Exchange Hall within the fair venue "Sonobe Park," a talk show will feature Tatsugo Murasame, actor and gardener and navigator for NHK's 'Shumi no Engei,' and Nobuo Shirasuna, Professor Emeritus at Kobe International University. They will propose "a rich lifestyle originating from Kyoto Tamba." On the day, there will be powerful Japanese drum performances by local elementary school students, a stage performance by local star Hiroe Gomi, who is engaged in environmental beautification activities, and concurrently, an exhibition of artistic gourd works by the National Gourd Association, and a VR experience of Sonobe Castle, "the last castle built in Japan." This event is packed with diverse content, offering a special day of learning for participants about the charm of living with greenery and the wisdom that brightens daily life.
