Kyoto Seika University (Sakyo-ku, Kyoto; President: Masato Sawada) will host a keynote lecture titled "Sustainable 'Environment' and 'Technology' — The Future of Commons (Co-creation) Opened by the Expo," presented by the internationally acclaimed architect Sousuke Fujimoto. Mr. Fujimoto, a recipient of numerous awards including the Architectural Institute of Japan Prize and the JIA Newcomer's Award, has developed a wide range of projects around the world, from private residences to universities, commercial facilities, hotels, and complex buildings. The event is organized by the university's Human-Environment Design Program.
Mr. Fujimoto served as the Venue Design Producer for the "EXPO 2025 Osaka-Kansai, Japan" (organized by the Japan Association for the 2025 World Exposition). In his keynote lecture, he will discuss the environment, technology, the potential of wooden architecture, and the implementation of a future society.
Following the lecture, a tripartite talk will feature a multifaceted discussion on architecture and society with Oussouby Sacko, a visiting professor in the university's Department of Architecture and a director for EXPO 2025 Osaka-Kansai, and Toshiaki Kawai, a faculty member of the same department.
