Background of Establishment
Our university established the Department of Architecture and Design within the Faculty of Home Economics in 2007 and launched the independent Faculty of Architecture and Design in 2023. For nearly 20 years, we have cultivated talent capable of creatively proposing and implementing comprehensive solutions for "spaces" and "objects" from the perspectives of users and art. With the new course, we will deepen Kyoritsu's specialized education, leveraging our accumulated expertise in "architecture" and "design" to expand and strengthen practical learning aimed at solving social and regional challenges, focusing on value creation in areas such as urban development, local communities, and planning design.
Features of the Co-create Course
Reflecting the meaning of "Co-create"—creating together—this course emphasizes dialogue and collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including local communities and businesses, to address real-world challenges. As a program dedicated to designing initiatives that generate new value to enrich people's lives, it cultivates the ability to innovate in urban development and product planning.
Furthermore, the course aims to develop professionals who can advance urban development not only through physical infrastructure but also through soft initiatives such as utilizing regional resources, fostering resident-led activities, and planning and managing community events.
※1 "Co-create" is a compound word combining "Co = together, collaborative" and "create = to create."
