Osamu Suzuki, who retired as a broadcast writer in 2024, has penned his latest original work, the stage play 'Mother, It's a Love Song.' Starring Kei Tanaka and co-starring Hiroshi Yazaki, it has been decided that the play will be performed in 5 cities—Tokyo, Sendai, Nagoya, Ueda, and Osaka—starting July 2026.

In the summer of 2026, the highly anticipated fourth installment of the project series by the duo of Osamu Suzuki, who has produced numerous popular works, and actor Kei Tanaka, will commence.

This formidable partnership, which began with 'Geinin Koukan Nikki' in 2011, makes its comeback after approximately 5 years since their previous work, 'Moshimo Inochi ga Egaketara' in 2021, which featured YOASOBI for its theme song and Asami Kiyokawa for its visuals, and was a great success. This work is a two-person play about an older brother, a musician who once had hits but is now down on his luck, and his younger brother, who has continuously supported him. It depicts their confrontation with their love-hate relationship with their mother, discrepancies in their memories, and past 'sins' they have turned away from. This is a completely new original work by Osamu Suzuki, who continues to be active on a new stage. In addition to lead actor Kei Tanaka, the intense two-person play will feature talented actor Hiroshi Yazaki!

Furthermore, the keyword for this work is 'love song.' This time, singer-songwriter Hirai Dai, whose gentle and warm voice and catchy melodies, along with his life-sized lyrics about love and daily life set against a surf music background, are supported by a wide range of generations, will participate by providing music. What kind of love song for their mother will it be? Please look forward to it.

And now, with the decision to stage the play, comments have arrived from scriptwriter/director Osamu Suzuki, lead actor Kei Tanaka, and co-star Hiroshi Yazaki!

Comment from Scriptwriter/Director: Osamu Suzuki

My mission, which I thought ended when I retired as a broadcast writer two years ago, is not over yet.

I will take on a new stage with my comrade-in-arms, Kei Tanaka.

If I'm going to do it, I'll make it the most stimulating and interesting thing possible!

Comment from Kei Tanaka

It's a two-person play with Osamu-san, who has a lot of lines, so the hurdle is high, but more than that, the excitement of being able to act again and the joy of being seen by everyone outweigh it.

Osamu-san, whom I trust, and Yazaki-san, my co-star. They are people I feel I can expose everything to and clash with. I'm grateful for that.

Please come to the theater, everyone! We look forward to seeing you!

Comment from Hiroshi Yazaki

Osamu Suzuki × Kei Tanaka is a special presence for me. I am very happy to be able to participate in that collaboration.

I'm looking forward to how I will live in the world Osamu-san depicts, and the two-person play with Kei-san is a mix of joy, a little shyness, and a good sense of tension that says, 'I can't lose.'

Please come to the theater. We look forward to seeing you.
