KYB Corporation (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and CEO: Masahiro Kawase) announced that its Development Center located in Kawabe-cho, Kamo-gun, Gifu Prefecture, has been certified as a "Nature Coexistence Site" based on the "Regional Biodiversity Promotion Act" administered by the Ministry of the Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. This certification acknowledges the center's continuous efforts in protecting rare species and conserving satoyama environments, which contribute to maintaining and enhancing biodiversity. These efforts are part of the "KYB Development Center Test Course Natural Environment Conservation Activity Plan." The "Nature Coexistence Site" system is a national certification for areas where biodiversity is conserved through private sector initiatives. Its objective is to achieve "Nature Positive" outcomes and contribute to the international "30by30" goal, which aims to conserve over 30% of land and sea areas as healthy ecosystems by 2030. The "Regional Biodiversity Promotion Act" will be enforced in April 2025, providing a legal framework for certifying biodiversity conservation activities by various stakeholders. Key initiatives at the Development Center Test Course include surveying and conserving rare plant species, managing satoyama environments through activities like undergrowth clearing and thinning, and preventing the invasion of alien species.
