Responding to the desire to "understand" beyond practice

While practicing mindfulness, have you ever felt that you wanted to understand the background of what you are doing a little more deeply, or that you wanted to convey it to someone but couldn't put it into words?

International Mindfulness Center JAPAN (operated by Kuu Co., Ltd.) will open the 4th term of the "Mindfulness Theory Course" online starting June 24, 2026.

From "knowing" theory to "using" it

This course is a training program designed for individuals who practice or teach mindfulness to systematically learn the theories behind it, deepen their personal understanding, and become able to share it with others. Instructors at International Mindfulness Center JAPAN have structured the course based on their experience in MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction) instructor training, track record of providing various evidence-based mindfulness courses including MBSR and MBCT, studies at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya Buddhist University in Thailand, and retreat experiences, aligning with an experiential understanding of mindfulness.

Re-examining mindfulness from four perspectives

In this course, mindfulness will be explored from multiple angles through the following four perspectives:

- Essence (What is mindfulness?)
- Practice (What is meditation?)
- Science (Evidence-based understanding)
- Origin (Perspective of Buddhist psychology)

By integrating these rather than learning them individually, linking them together, participants will cultivate an understanding rooted in their own practice, rather than fragmented knowledge.

Making it "your own words" through a project-based approach

This course adopts a "project-based" format where knowledge is not unilaterally received, but rather participants output through dialogue and collaborative learning in peer groups and a final presentation.

- Articulating what you are practicing
- Adapting it into a form that can be utilized in the field
- Developing the ability to convey it to others

Through these processes, learning becomes "your own."

Recommended for:

- Those who practice mindfulness and want to learn its background more deeply
- Those who are active as mindfulness instructors and want to relearn the theory
- Those who are yoga instructors and want to know the background of mindfulness
- Those who are psychological support professionals and want to learn the theory and practice of mindfulness
