International Mindfulness Center JAPAN (Representative: Seiko Inoue, hereinafter "IMCJ") will hold an interactive meditation retreat titled "Four Days to Be with Your Weakness in a Safe Place" over three nights and four days, from Friday, August 21, to Monday, August 24, 2026, at Kuu Retreat, a small forest retreat in Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture.
Background and Purpose of the Retreat
In our daily lives, we tend to push away unresolved "fuzziness" and emotions related to human relationships or work dilemmas, often viewing them as "bad." We hide our weaknesses and keep pushing forward. However, it might be that within this "fuzziness" lies important seeds for living a rich life.
In English, there is a term called "Negative Capability." It refers to the ability to remain in uncertainty, without rushing to conclusions when answers are not readily available. What IMCJ values in this retreat, through "insightful dialogue" based on mindfulness and compassion, is to carefully share the "weaknesses" we thought we had to hide and the "limbo" state, like standing in a fog, in a safe environment.
By listening to the body's voice and taking a break from trying to solve things with thought, by easing off the accelerator and pausing to listen carefully, important things may naturally emerge. The retreat will be conducted mostly in noble silence, except for some sharing sessions. It is a time to surrender oneself to the summer forest's tranquility and deeply confront oneself.
