Porter Classic and Kurosawa

The connection between Porter Classic and Kurosawa began when Kichizo Yoshida, the grandfather of Porter Classic Representative Reo Yoshida and father of Chairman Katsuyuki Yoshida, produced the leather bag that appeared as an important prop in "High and Low."

Later, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the release of "Seven Samurai," Takayuki Kato, representative of our parent company, was consulted about a collaboration product between Porter Classic and Akira Kurosawa, and hit it off with film enthusiast Reo Yoshida, leading to this current collaboration.

Sashiko Fabric

In the past, fabric was extremely precious.

Therefore, people at the time would finely tear up fabrics from worn-out clothes and futons and re-weave them into new fabric using a technique called "sashiko" (rag weaving), thereby reusing unusable materials.

This "AKIRA KUROSAWA SCRIPT COVER" uses sashiko fabric made from clothes actually worn by Akira Kurosawa that became unusable due to holes or wear, processed at KOKORAKURAI Japan in Morioka.

This product connects with the modern concept of upcycling.

Fabric from clothes actually worn by Akira Kurosawa

One strand of fabric, made from clothes actually worn by Akira Kurosawa, is incorporated every 3cm in the sashiko fabric.

Bringing Kurosawa to the Modern Set

The reason for making a script cover from the fabric of clothes worn by Kurosawa.

This started with Reo Yoshida's words, "Wouldn't it be wonderful if actors and directors on today's film sets had script covers containing fabric from clothes worn by Director Kurosawa?"

This perfectly aligns with the concept of Kurosawa Costumes: "Wear the Movie," "Wear Tradition," "Wear Kurosawa."

And so, the development of this product began.

The SCRIPT COVER was created by fusing Porter Classic's reliable technology and planning capabilities, Reo Yoshida's playful spirit, and fabric that evokes Kurosawa.

We hope that directors, actors, staff currently active on sets, and all lovers of film and drama will pick up this product.
