KUL Corporation (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka City; Representative Director: Nobukazu Tanaka) has installed a security camera-equipped, wrapped vending machine at its managed commercial facility 'Ecole Izumi' (Izumi City, Osaka Prefecture) in collaboration with the Osaka Prefectural Police and Kirin Beverage Co., Ltd.
This marks the first time in Osaka Prefecture that a vending machine wrapped with crime prevention messages designed by the Osaka Prefectural Police has been installed at a commercial facility. This initiative combines the monitoring function of security cameras with design elements that promote crime prevention awareness, representing a new approach to community safety.

Significance of Installation at Commercial Facilities
The commercial facilities we manage and operate serve as daily life hubs for many local residents. Beyond their commercial function, they are increasingly expected to serve as pillars of safety and security within the community.
While traditional security cameras are typically placed in less visible locations for surveillance, this initiative integrates the camera into a vending machine, creating a 'monitoring system' that naturally draws attention in everyday life.
Furthermore, by installing the machine in high-traffic areas such as the East Building parking lot and bicycle parking area, the crime prevention function is activated along regular visitor pathways.
Design for Crime Prevention and Behavioral Change
Security Camera-Equipped Wrapped Vending Machine
The vending machine is equipped with a security camera featuring the latest sensors and high-performance lenses, enabling clear video recording even in low-light conditions such as at night.
Additionally, the machine's body is wrapped with messaging promoting bicycle theft prevention. Utilizing 'nudge theory※', this design subtly encourages users to enhance their crime prevention awareness.
Beyond the convenience of a vending machine, this initiative contributes to the community through both 'monitoring' and 'awareness promotion'.
※ Nudge Theory: An approach that gently encourages people to make better choices voluntarily, without coercion.
Collaboration with Government, Police, and Local Community
This initiative was realized through collaboration with relevant organizations including Izumi City and the Osaka Prefectural Police. It involves diverse stakeholders such as local crime prevention groups and university student volunteers, making it a community-wide effort.
Our company has long collaborated with administrative and police authorities to ensure safe and secure facility operations. We view this installation as a natural extension of these ongoing relationships.
Ceremony Highlights
The unveiling ceremony held on Tuesday, June 2, was attended by many participants, including government and police officials, local crime prevention groups, university student volunteers, and children from a certified nursery school.
During the ceremony, a first-purchase event was held where nursery school children, supported by student volunteers, made their first beverage purchase from the vending machine. The venue was filled with warm applause and a cheerful atmosphere. The event vividly demonstrated community-wide participation in crime prevention, embodying the significance of this initiative.
