Mt. Hiko, a sacred mountain, stands in Soeda Town, Tagawa District, Fukuoka Prefecture. The 'Mt. Hiko Shrine Path Ascent Race' is an event where runners challenge their limits. This race commemorates the 400th anniversary of the reconstruction of the Hōheiden at Mt. Hiko Shrine. The course is approximately 800m long with an elevation difference of 160m, starting from the Bronze Torii and ascending to the Hōheiden. Participants who overcome the difficulty are rewarded with a magnificent view and refreshing breeze at the finish line. After the competition, participants receive complimentary handmade 'Juwari Soba' and 'shaved ice'. A lottery with luxurious prizes is also held. Applications opened on April 13, 2026, and close on June 30, 2026. The capacity is approximately 200 participants, on a first-come, first-served basis. The event date is August 11, 2026 (Tuesday/Holiday), rain or shine, but will be canceled in severe weather. The venue is Slope Car Hana Station Gymnasium (former Mt. Hiko Elementary School). The course is from Bronze Torii to Mt. Hiko Shrine Hōheiden. Schedule: 9:00-10:30 reception, 10:40 opening ceremony, 11:00 start (staggered groups).
