Selling 'Imperfect' Doughnuts Exclusively for June Environment Month
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Japan (hereinafter, KKDJ) is launching the 'Environment Month Limited Surprise Box', exclusively available through the world's No. 1 food waste reduction service, 'Too Good To Go', from June 1st to June 30th, 2026, as part of its food waste reduction efforts.
Background of the Initiative
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (hereinafter, KKD) promotes environmental efforts under the theme 'Love Our Planet'. Since its introduction in late January 2026, the 'Too Good To Go' service, which offers 'Surprise Boxes' of doughnuts based on daily sales at approximately half the regular price, has successfully achieved its 30% reduction target within the first month.
The New 'Imperfect' Doughnut Initiative
To further reduce food waste, the company will now sell 'imperfect' doughnuts that were previously unable to be sold in stores. These doughnuts have minor scratches, dents, or topping imperfections that do not meet store standards but are perfectly fine in quality and taste. These are fresh doughnuts produced daily in factories that would otherwise have been discarded. This initiative aims to effectively utilize these doughnuts to balance environmental protection with providing satisfactory products to customers.
Overview of the Environment Month Limited Surprise Box
The 'Environment Month Limited Surprise Box' contains two 'imperfect' doughnuts and one of the most popular 'Original Glazed®' doughnuts. It is priced at 398 yen (tax included), which is approximately half the regular price. As a purchase benefit, customers will receive a coupon valid at all Krispy Kreme Doughnut stores at a later date.
Expansion of Participating Stores
Starting with this initiative, the company will gradually expand the number of stores participating in the service. It will be introduced to all stores in Kanagawa Prefecture and the Haneda Airport Terminal 2 store starting June 1st, 2026, and to all stores in Chiba and Saitama Prefectures from June 15th, 2026, aiming for a total of 53 stores nationwide. KKDJ and Too Good To Go will continue to work together to realize a sustainable society and expand initiatives that allow customers to participate in solving social issues.
