'Subnautica 2' Steam Wishlist Surpasses 5 Million, Pre-download Starts May 12

KRAFTON JAPAN Inc. is pleased to announce that pre-purchase and pre-download for 'Subnautica 2,' an underwater adventure game currently under development by creative studio Unknown Worlds, will begin on Steam from May 12 (Tuesday), ahead of the early access release.

Pre-purchase and Pre-download to be Implemented

The early access version of 'Subnautica 2' is scheduled for release on May 15 (Friday).

Prior to the release, the number of Steam wishlists worldwide has exceeded 5 million.

In response to the high expectations from many game players for this title, we have decided to implement pre-purchase and pre-download on Steam to ensure a smooth playing experience immediately after release.

Furthermore, Unknown Worlds recently held an online event called "First Dive Showcase" on the internet to commemorate the early access release of 'Subnautica 2.'

This event was simultaneously streamed on YouTube, Steam, and Twitch, reaching a maximum concurrent viewership of 70,000 people.

During the broadcast, the developers appeared and introduced the game design direction, new gameplay systems, vehicles, and expanded base building elements.

The released gameplay footage showcased the following key systems:

・Enhanced underwater lighting and rendering expressions powered by Unreal Engine 5

・"Environmental Adaptation System" where players evolve to adapt to environmental changes

・Expanded base building elements

・New underwater vehicles

'Subnautica 2' is the sequel to the 'Subnautica' series, which established the ocean survival genre and sold over 18.5 million copies worldwide.

This title inherits the world view of the series while introducing evolved visuals and a new ecosystem on a new alien planet. It also supports co-op play for up to 4 players for the first time in the series, allowing players to cooperate in survival and exploration.
