Koshidaka Co., Ltd. (Location: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Hiroshi Koshidaka), a consolidated subsidiary of Koshidaka Holdings Co., Ltd., today announced that it has entered into an agreement on July 1, 2026, for a "Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA" with UPDATER Inc. (Location: Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Eiji Oishi) and Kakuichi Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture, President and CEO: Riyo Tanaka). This agreement aggregates numerous low-voltage solar power plants (4.95-9.90kW class) installed on existing container/garage rooftops to procure electricity.

Under this agreement, starting August 2026, 100% renewable energy (Note 1) generated by regional solar power plants will be sequentially supplied to 41 Karaoke Manekineko stores across five areas: Tohoku, Hokuriku, Kansai, Chugoku, and Shikoku. By matching stores with power plants within the same region, this initiative promotes the circulation of electricity charges within the region and achieves direct procurement of distributed renewable energy, independent of large-scale power plants. The supply system, spread across 61 locations in 5 areas, possesses high resilience unique to distributed systems, allowing other locations to mutually cover if one power generation site stops. This structure, not relying on distant large-scale power plants, enhances the stability of regional power supply during disasters and power outages, leading to the formation of a robust regional energy infrastructure. Through these efforts, we aim to contribute to the development of sustainable local communities and economic revitalization. This is the first initiative of its kind in the karaoke industry to adopt a "Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA" by "Karaoke Manekineko" in Japan. (Self-researched as of the end of May 2026).

Note 1: 100% renewable energy electricity is supplied by combining electricity from renewable energy sources with the environmental value of non-fossil certificates designated for renewable energy. CO2 emissions will also be zero.

Background of the Initiative

Renewable energy adoption is currently a mandatory trend, particularly among major corporations. However, large-scale ground-mounted solar power generation, which involves forest clearing, faces rapidly strengthening legal regulations from the government due to risks of sediment disasters, environmental destruction, and challenges in gaining consensus from local residents. Consequently, demand for methods of procuring energy without damaging the natural environment is increasing (Note 2). In response to these social issues, UPDATER has consistently focused on procurement from sustainable power plants that do not cause environmental destruction. Furthermore, it is pioneering the industry not just in renewable energy adoption, but also in achieving "local consumption of locally produced energy" by circulating that electricity within the region.

This project is part of that effort. Kakuichi has established a clean procurement system that involves no new land development by leasing and effectively utilizing the rooftops of existing garages and containers, primarily from farmers and other owners. By combining this with our proprietary blockchain technology, "ENECTION2.0" (Note 3), we have realized a matching supply that connects numerous distributed power sources scattered across regions with individual stores, which was technically difficult until now.

This innovative system enables direct procurement of renewable energy, overcoming the physical limitations unique to "Karaoke Manekineko," which often opens stores in urban areas or within buildings and cannot own its own power generation facilities. At the stores, a new cycle is created where the electricity charges from local residents enjoying entertainment are directly returned to local power plants. As the entire town becomes richer through this regional circulation, the stores, as members of the community, can continue their operations to be loved and rooted for the long term. This Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA, which simultaneously achieves environmental consideration, regional contribution, high disaster resilience, and store longevity, is set to become a new standard in the market. Starting with this project, the three companies aim to create a new market trend moving towards regional symbiosis, not just simple renewable energy adoption, and to strongly drive the development of a sustainable energy society.

Overview of Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA

Unlike the "Off-site PPA" adopted by many RE100 companies, which procures electricity through long-term contracts from mega-solar plants built on vast land, the Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA is a new PPA model that aggregates numerous low-voltage solar power plants (4.95-9.90kW class) installed on existing container/garage rooftops to procure electricity.

Features of Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA

Conceptual diagram of Regionally Distributed, Locally Consumed Corporate PPA

1. Zero New Land Development (Environmental Consideration)

This is low-environmental-impact solar power generation that makes effective use of existing container/garage rooftops, without any new forest clearing or land development.

2. "Local Consumption of Locally Produced Energy" Model

Achieves clean regional circulation of energy, where renewable energy generated in a region is consumed by stores in the same region.

3. Resilience (Disaster Preparedness) Against Disasters

Compared to typical off-site PPAs that transmit power from distant power plants, this system utilizes electricity within the premises, making it robust against disasters and power outages.

Supply Start: Scheduled for August 2026

Supplier: Koshidaka Co., Ltd. (Dogenzaka, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo)

Power Plant: Kakuichi Co., Ltd. (Tsuruga Midori-cho, Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture)

Generation Method: Rooftop solar power generation

Equipment Capacity: 61 power plants x average approx. 8kW = Total installed capacity approx. 490kW (AC base)

Contract Type: Corporate PPA (Physical PPA / Off-site type)

Contract Period: 20 years

* The electricity used by Koshidaka has been supplied at 100% renewable energy from Minna Denryoku. The conclusion of this Corporate PPA further strengthens the procurement system and newly realizes regionally distributed local consumption.

Comment from Hiroshi Koshidaka, President and CEO of Koshidaka Co., Ltd.

As the introduction of renewable energy is essential for a decarbonized society, procuring locally produced and consumed energy without harming the environment is the responsibility of companies going forward. Karaoke Manekineko's numerous store openings within buildings presented a barrier as we couldn't own power generation facilities, but this innovative system, which allows us to utilize local electricity without land development, was the deciding factor for adoption. In the future, we aim for a new future of regional coexistence where customers enjoying themselves at our stores enriches local power plants, and the stores endure together with the region. We will be pioneers in creating a new society where enjoyment and sustainability coexist, strongly leading the industry.
