◆Conclusion of the First Naming Rights Agreement
Maizuru Kosen introduced a naming rights system in October 2024 with the aim of further enhancing its educational and research environment. AsahiNet, which has supported infrastructure for many years as an independent internet service provider, was selected as the first partner.
The Information Science Center is a core hub for ICT education in the Maizuru region, utilized for advanced specialized education as well as programming education for local elementary and junior high school students. Through this agreement, the center has been operated under the nickname "AsahiNet Information Science Center" for five years from February 1, 2026.
◆Space Design Embodying "Connection"
Based on its philosophy of "exchange and creation" since its establishment, AsahiNet has renewed the facility's signage and spatial design. Using peacock blue, the school color of Maizuru Kosen, as a base, it symbolically expresses the network expanding from the Sea of Japan to the world, and the "connection" that links people, technology, and society.
In his greeting, President Komatsu said, "I hope that the students learning here will grow into individuals who create new value and connections in society through information technology."

◆Future Developments and the Naming Rights System
Maizuru Kosen plans to continue utilizing the naming rights system, with the AsahiNet Information Science Center as a model case, to advance the sophistication of its education and research environment in collaboration with companies. The knowledge gained through collaboration with AsahiNet is expected to be widely returned to the development of next-generation engineers and regional revitalization.
