On the Day of the Event
On the day, a total of 48 elementary school students from Chiba Prefecture and their siblings participated in the workshop.
In the lecture, participants first cut, bent, and straightened the distributed materials to shape them, then wired them to a breadboard. They then brought their completed metal detectors close to various metals to experience changes in sound.
Participants seemed to enjoy the crafting process, with their smiling faces during the work and their joyful expressions when they noticed changes in sound being particularly impressive.
In conjunction with the lecture, Kisarazu Kosen students displayed exhibits showcasing the characteristics of their departments, as well as craft items actually made in public lectures and LEGO robots used, attracting interest from a wide range of age groups.
This workshop was also held in an atrium venue with a large digital signage, which allowed people outside the venue to watch the lecture on the large screen and passersby to join in, making it a good opportunity for local people to enjoy the workshop while shopping.
The participating elementary school students seemed to enjoy crafting with the teachers and student assistants. In the post-lecture survey, they expressed their expectations for future events with comments such as, "The staff were very kind, and I had a lot of fun," "I thought I'd use this to search for metal in the sea next time," and "It was fun to have an experience I wouldn't normally have. I'm looking forward to the next Kosen event."
Kisarazu Kosen will continue to collaborate with Aeon Mall Kisarazu to hold events.
