Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. announces the release of the special program "Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel AI Contest," which closely follows the student AI contest for "Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel," on the YouTube "Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Channel.".

This contest, held for the first time this year, is for students who develop Duel AI (programs) for the digital card game "Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel" and compete in duels between these AIs. It was a team competition with 3 members per team, involving a total of 24 students from 8 teams nationwide (Kindai University, Keio University, Chiba Institute of Technology, University of Electro-Communications, The University of Tokyo, Tokyo University of Science, Matsue National College of Technology).

The special program "Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel AI Contest," released today, allows viewers to enjoy the process of all 8 teams creating and refining their Duel AI over six months, as well as the finals. Please enjoy this record of their battles, overflowing with their intellect and passion.

What is the "Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel" x AI Project... A project that allows anyone to develop AI that duels in "Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel," and enables these AIs to battle each other. The AI in this project is a reinforcement learning type AI that learns, thinks, selects, and acts on its own, rather than following programmed movements. It competes by externally controlling "Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel." The project also supports visualization of the AI's thought process, such as displaying action selection patterns during duels and quantifying win rates.
