Message from the Editor-in-Chief of Magapoke

I've been with Kodansha for nine years.

Since my first year as a new employee assigned to Weekly Shonen Magazine, I've been involved in the operation of Magapoke. It's no exaggeration to say that my entire professional life has been intertwined with Magapoke.

Back in my first year, when I didn't know much about the industry, Magapoke was in its second year. It was still very new—mentioning 'Magapoke' outside the company didn't ring a bell, and I had to explain it as 'a manga app operated by Weekly Shonen Magazine.' Recruiting creators and promoting the platform was tough, and the gap in brand recognition compared to Weekly Shonen Magazine was immense. But now, in its 11th year, saying 'Magapoke' is instantly understood. When I say I run Magapoke, people say, 'Wow, that's amazing!'—and that makes me really happy (laughs).

Now in its 11th year, Magapoke no longer struggles to attract creators—that's truly appreciated. But conversely, I feel the bar for what's expected from Magapoke has risen.

Magapoke welcomes anything as long as it's fun. With this spirit of returning to our roots, we're launching the '#Magapoke11njanai Manga Award' to encourage creators from all backgrounds to participate freely and easily! We welcome your quick and casual entries!
