A look at the event held in FY2021

Since 1988, Kobe Gakuin University has been opening the Green Festival to the public for free in the spring and fall, providing an opportunity for local residents to experience various performing arts. We are pleased to announce the 473rd Green Festival.

Please note that performances may be canceled due to weather conditions or other reasons.

■ Date and Time: Saturday, May 16, 2026, 14:00 Start
■ Venue: Kobe Gakuin University, Arise Campus, Building 9, 6th Floor Memorial Hall
■ 'Program' and Performers
- "Sanbonbashira (Three Pillars)": Sengoro Shigeyama, Ryusei Shigeyama, Toramasa Shigeyama, Hojin Shigeyama
- "Neongyoku (Singing While Lying Down)": Shigeru Shigeyama, Tatsuya Iguchi
- "Koyakuneri (Making Ointment)": Kaoru Matsumoto, Hiromi Shimada

At this Kyogen gathering, "Sanbonbashira" will be performed to celebrate the completion of the new school building, Building 1 (nicknamed ARISE), on the Arise Campus. Since this play is performed for special events such as new building celebrations, opportunities to see it are rare. Furthermore, it will be an incredibly precious performance with Master Sengoro Shigeyama and his sons appearing on stage together. In addition, we intend to bring you plenty of laughter with "Neongyoku," an excellent Taro-kaja play overflowing with the charm of Kyogen, and "Koyakuneri," an unpredictable play where characters compete over the strength of their ointments.

[Green Festival Overview]
In the spring of 1988, the Memorial Hall on our Arise Campus, with a capacity of approximately 700 people, was completed. Since then, we have utilized this hall to hold the "Green Festival," staging artistic works such as classical music, Japanese classical performing arts, theater, and films. Planning is handled by university faculty members with expertise in each respective field, and it is held as an important cultural activity of the university, now entering its 38th year. Presentations by some of the university's extracurricular student groups (clubs) are also held as part of this program. Admission is free. We invite you to spend a fulfilling time at the university's Memorial Hall. We look forward to seeing you there.
