As part of Kobe City University of Foreign Studies' (hereinafter, "the University") Model United Nations program, 12 students and 2 faculty members were dispatched to the "German Model United Nations (GerMUN)" held in Cologne, Germany, from Thursday, February 26 to Sunday, March 1, 2026.

1. After the German Model United Nations (GerMUN)
Immediately after the start of the conference, our university students actively formed negotiation groups and exchanged opinions with students gathered from various parts of Germany. Over four days, they engaged in meaningful discussions to build cooperation and consensus, earnestly addressing challenges facing the international community, and fostering friendships with the participating German students.

This educational program contributes to the development of global citizens who can contribute to the realization of world peace and a sustainable society. Through this experience, the university's students were able to cultivate an international perspective and collaborative problem-solving skills.

2. About the Model United Nations Program
Model United Nations is an educational activity originating in the United States, where participants assume the roles of delegates from various countries, deepen their understanding of real international issues through discussions at conferences, and enhance their overall international communication skills, including negotiation, debate, and language proficiency.

The unique feature of our university's Model United Nations program is its integration of virtual simulations conducted in Model UN conferences with real-world learning experiences through visits to actual UN sites. Participating students visit the UN Headquarters in New York and the UN European Headquarters in Geneva as part of a study tour. By observing and understanding the activities of international organizations firsthand, the learning from Model UN discussions and simulations in the classroom becomes deeper and more practical.

Thus, the major characteristic of our university's Model United Nations program is its aim to deepen understanding of international issues and cultivate the perspective and practical skills needed to thrive in the international community through a combination of virtual and real learning.
