Performers Conductor: Katsuhiko Ida KATSUHIRO IDA

Born in Tottori Prefecture. Graduated from the Music Department and Graduate School of Tokyo Gakugei University. From 2003, served as assistant producer for visiting opera companies in Japan, assisting conductors Seiji Ozawa and Zubin Mehta at La Scala, Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, and Opera no Mori in Tokyo. In 2007, played a key role as assistant conductor for the Japanese premiere of Tokyo Ballet’s ‘Daughter of the Danube,’ including score revisions. Made his conducting debut in November 2007 with K-Ballet Company’s (now K-BALLET TOKYO) ‘Swan Lake.’ Since then, he has conducted numerous K-Ballet productions and collaborated with ballet companies including Tokyo Ballet, Momoko Tani Ballet, Asami Makihara Ballet, Vienna State Ballet, and Russian State Moscow Classical Ballet. Since 2018, he has conducted NHK’s ‘Ballet Feast.’ He served as music producer for the world premieres of K-BALLET TOKYO’s ‘Carmen,’ ‘Cleopatra,’ and ‘Madame Butterfly.’ He has performed with orchestras including the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo City Philharmonic Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, and Kyushu Symphony Orchestra. He served as music director and conductor for the 2019 Broadway musical ‘West Side Story,’ 2024 Mao Asada ice show ‘Everlasting33,’ and the new ballet ‘Anne of Green Gables,’ showcasing his versatility across genres. Currently, he is Music Director of K-BALLET TOKYO, Music Director/Resident Conductor of Theatre Orchestra Tokyo, Lecturer at Shinshu University Faculty of Education, and Part-time Lecturer at Senzoku Gakuen College of Music. In January 2025, he received the Tottori Prefecture Cultural Encouragement Award for 2025 (Reiwa 6).

Orchestra: Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra

Founded in 1911, it is Japan’s oldest and most historically significant orchestra. With approximately 160 members, it functions as both a symphony and theater orchestra. It boasts Music Director Laureate Myung-Whun Chung, Chief Conductor Andrea Battistoni, Conductors Laureate Tadaaki Otaka, Kazushi Ono, and Dan Ettinger, Special Guest Conductor Mikhail Pletnev, and Associate Conductor Min Cho. The orchestra promotes classical music widely through regular concerts and series such as ‘Shibuya / Weekday / Weekend Afternoon Concerts.’
