This educational material was jointly developed by Kinki Nippon Tourist, integrating its long-accumulated know-how in educational travel, and TBS Television, leveraging the expertise cultivated by its long-running program "The World Heritage," with the aim of evolving school trips into inquiry-based learning.
The Okinawa version was released first in June 2025. Based on the results of demonstrations and sales, the nationwide version, which can be utilized for school trips across the country, has been rolled out since April of this year.
Evolving School Trips into Inquiry-Based Learning
This educational material begins with a familiar theme: "What do I want to preserve?" Students are encouraged to develop an interest in various subjects they encounter at their travel destination, such as landscapes, cultures, buildings, and nature, and to consider them from both their own perspective and a societal viewpoint. Furthermore, they are guided to find their own answers to the question "What do I want to leave for the world 100 years from now?" and ultimately express their conclusions as video works.
To realize such learning, the experiential inquiry program "My World Heritage Inquiry" was developed with the following objectives:
- To provide educational materials that respond to the inquiry-based learning sought in schools, thereby contributing to the development of each student's curiosity and critical thinking skills by evolving school trips into opportunities for proactive learning. - To enhance the educational value of school trips through a unique learning program that integrates broadcast content and educational travel expertise, aiming to create a new model for educational travel for the next generation. - To deepen understanding of local culture, nature, and history through school trips, and to promote sustainable educational exchange with various regions, including Okinawa, thereby fostering interest in local communities and a sense of coexistence.
