・Yagi Sake Brewing Department

Yagi Sake Brewing Department, the brewer of 'Yamadanishiki,' was founded in 1831 (during the Tenpo era) in Imabari City, Ehime Prefecture, at the dawn of the late Edo period. The brand name originates from the founder, Yagi Jihei, whose shop name was 'Tamba-ya.' Inspired by its crest and the sharp, clean taste of the sake—comparable to the legendary sword 'Masamune'—the name 'Yamadanishiki' was adopted. Since 1996 (Heisei 8), the logo has been updated to its current design, created by Mr. Keizo Matsui, a renowned design consultant for Apple Inc. The logo won the Gold Prize at the Japan Package Design Awards in 1997 (Heisei 9). Since its founding, Yagi Sake Brewing Department has passionately pursued high-quality sake production. The excellence of Yamadanishiki is evidenced by numerous Gold Awards at the National New Sake Appraisal Competition hosted by the National Research Institute of Brewing, along with top honors in various other competitions, earning high acclaim.
