【Abeno Mikoshi】

Approximately 130 years ago, merchants from Semba and Azuchi-machi in Osaka created this portable shrine for their local Hachiman-sama (guardian deity). Due to the "Shrine Merger Ordinance" in 1907, Hachiman-sama was merged into Abe Oji Shrine. Even after being moved to Abeno, the portable shrine, once beloved in Semba, continued to be cherished by the local community.

Later, Abeno suffered damage from large-scale air raids during World War II, but Abe Oji Shrine and the portable shrine miraculously survived. With the post-war reconstruction, the portable shrine procession was revived, bringing hope to the war-torn city. However, during the Heisei era, the procession was discontinued due to a decrease in caretakers and had not appeared in public for over a decade.

In 2017, in response to the wishes of the parishioners of Abe Oji Shrine who wanted to serve the deities by carrying the portable shrine during their "yakudoshi" (unlucky years), Abeno Harukas, which walks alongside the local community, has been cooperating in the revival of the portable shrine since 2018.

【Hannan Shishimai】

This lion dance has been part of the summer festival procession, parading through the streets of Abeno since the Showa era. As times changed and the number of successors decreased, it has been carefully preserved in the Hannan district as a mechanical float.

In 2019, the "Shishi no Oneri" (lion's dance procession) was revived, and it has been active in summer and autumn festivals.
