Abeno Harukas Art Museum hosts a variety of exhibitions, including Japanese art, Western art, and contemporary art. Following the 'Special Exhibition: Ancient Egypt from the Brooklyn Museum Collection' starting March 20, 2026, the museum plans to host 'Van Gogh's Drawbridge and Impressionist Painters: Wallraf-Richartz Museum Collection' from July, 'Andrew Wyeth Exhibition' from October, and 'Lucie Rie Exhibition: Elegant Vessels Connecting East and West' from December. In addition to these, the new exhibition 'Eric Carle Exhibition: The Very Hungry Caterpillar' has been decided. The exhibition will run from March 20, 2027, to May 9, 2027. It is co-organized by The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art, Yomiuri Shimbun, and Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation. This retrospective exhibition of American picture book author Eric Carle (1929-2021) celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Japanese edition of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Approximately 180 items, including original artworks from 27 picture books like 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' (1969), 'Papa, Please Get the Moon for Me' (1986), and '10 Little Rubber Ducks' (2005), as well as works from his graphic designer era and dummy books, will be showcased.
