The Fukuoka Clinical Engineering Technologists Association (Office: Nishi-ku, Fukuoka City; Chairman: Takashi Yano; hereafter FCET) and KCJ GROUP Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Michinari Tsumuraya; hereafter KCJ GROUP), the planner and operator of the children's vocational and social experience facility "KidZania," will hold a limited-time event titled "Intensive Care Unit (ICU) - Challenging the Work of a Clinical Engineer!" at KidZania Fukuoka (Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City) for seven days from Thursday, May 28 to Wednesday, June 3, 2026. During this period, a limited-time "Intensive Care Unit (ICU)" pavilion will be opened.
This will be the first pavilion in Japan to use an intensive care unit as its theme.
In this pavilion, children will experience the work of "clinical engineers," specialists who operate advanced medical equipment among healthcare professionals, helping to sustain the lives of patients who have been urgently hospitalized after an emergency outpatient visit. After learning about the role of the ICU and the work of clinical engineers, they will operate medical devices that support patients' lives, such as ventilators, dialysis machines, and ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), and watch over the patient until their condition recovers.
Additionally, the entire city of KidZania will be filled with excitement during the event, featuring a quiz rally where participants can challenge three quizzes about clinical engineers posted at three locations in the facility to receive a gift upon answering all correctly. The "Sightseeing Bus" pavilion will also feature a limited-time activity introducing the "Intensive Care Unit" pavilion.
FCET and KCJ GROUP hope that through the experience at this pavilion, children will learn about the profession of clinical engineering, which ensures patient safety. They also hope to deepen children's interest in medical professions that support patient lives and provide an opportunity for them to envision their future dreams.
