Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture, to Fully Implement 'Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Online' ('Online Consultation for Expectant Mothers and Children') from April 2026

Kids Public Inc. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Naoya Hashimoto) has partnered with Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture (Mayor: Hirofumi Igarashi) to launch 'Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Online,' operated by the company, as 'Online Consultation for Expectant Mothers and Children' for Tomisato City residents, starting April 1, 2026. Tomisato City had been trialing this service since April 1, 2025, and based on the positive feedback from residents, it has now been officially adopted. By creating an environment where residents can easily consult obstetricians, midwives, and pediatricians from their smartphones, we aim to support them in having a safe pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing experience.

Background of 'Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Online' Implementation Tomisato City, Chiba Prefecture, faced challenges due to limited pediatric and obstetric/gynecological medical resources within the city. Especially during sudden illnesses at night or on holidays, residents often had to rely on medical institutions in neighboring municipalities such as Narita City. Furthermore, with the increase in nuclear families, the city had identified the crucial theme of how to alleviate the 'sense of isolation' among parents who lack immediate support. In this context, the city recognized the demand for online consultations to supplement traditional in-person consultations and phone hotlines, providing support for expectant mothers who find it difficult to go out and parents who may find it hard to express their true feelings face-to-face.

To solve these challenges and support the peace of mind of its citizens, Tomisato City began a free trial of 'Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Online' in April 2025. This pilot initiative aimed to complement existing administrative services and enhance continuous, personalized consultation support by creating an environment where residents can connect with obstetricians, midwives, and pediatricians anytime, anywhere via smartphones. The city also hoped to identify potential beneficiaries who feel psychological barriers to in-person consultations and build a 'safety net that leaves no one behind.'

During the trial period, users of 'Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Online' provided feedback such as: "It's very reassuring to get answers from a specialist," "I felt relieved knowing I could ask questions late on a Sunday night," and "They responded very politely and empathetically, making it feel like an actual medical consultation." Moreover, approximately half of the consultations sent via 'Anytime Consultation,' a 24-hour Q&A format, were submitted at night, suggesting a demand for consultations during hours when existing municipal consultation windows are closed. With the full implementation from April 2026, by providing an environment where residents can easily consult obstetricians, midwives, and pediatricians from their smartphones, we will contribute to further supporting pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing in Tomisato City and realizing a 'city where children can be born and raised with peace of mind.'

About the 'Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Pediatrics Online' services available in Tomisato City (partial list) Residents of Tomisato City can consult pediatricians, obstetricians, and midwives online for free. Men (husbands, partners) can also consult about women's physical and mental health.
