Aguni Village, Okinawa Prefecture, Fully Adopts 'Obstetrics and Gynecology/Pediatrics Online' Service from April 2026 ### Aiming to alleviate resident anxiety due to the absence of specialist doctors on remote islands through online health and medical consultations Kids Public Inc. Aguni Village had been trialing this service since November 1, 2025. Based on the results of resident usage, the service has now been fully implemented. To address the challenge of having no specialist obstetricians or pediatricians within the island due to geographical constraints, we are establishing an environment where residents can easily consult with obstetricians, midwives, and pediatricians via smartphones and other devices, aiming to provide greater peace of mind for pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing.

Background of the Introduction of 'Obstetrics and Gynecology/Pediatrics Online'

Aguni Village, an island located approximately 60 km northwest of the main island of Okinawa, faces the issue of limited access to medical institutions and expert consultation services for pregnancy-related conditions and children's health problems, as there are no specialist doctors in obstetrics and gynecology or pediatrics within the village.

Previously, for specialized advice, residents had to travel to medical institutions off-island or rely on phone consultations. It was a pressing issue for the village's health policies to alleviate the anxiety of first-time parents and child-rearing households who felt they "had no one to consult immediately."

Based on the "4th Aguni Village Comprehensive Plan," Aguni Village is working to create an environment where child-rearing households can raise children with peace of mind without feeling isolated, and to support work-life balance. To verify its effectiveness, the village trialed 'Obstetrics and Gynecology/Pediatrics Online' from November 1, 2025. With the understanding that securing consultation services online can reduce the anxiety of residents undergoing pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing in the village, the service has been fully adopted from April 1, 2026, as ongoing support.

The introduction of 'Obstetrics and Gynecology/Pediatrics Online' aims to overcome geographical disadvantages of being an island by utilizing ICT, providing the reassurance of receiving expert advice anytime, anywhere. By creating an environment where residents can easily consult with obstetricians, midwives, and pediatricians from their home smartphones, we will contribute to further supporting pregnancy, childbirth, and child-rearing in Aguni Village.
