[Mishima Village, Kagoshima Prefecture] 'Obstetrics & Pediatrics Online' Fully Implemented for All Households on Takeshima, Iwojima, and Kuroshima

Kids Public Inc. (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Representative: Naoya Hashimoto) has been commissioned by Mishima Village, Kagoshima-gun, Kagoshima Prefecture (Village Mayor: Heiji Iwakiri) to fully implement its 'Obstetrics & Pediatrics Online' service for residents of Mishima Village starting April 1, 2026 (Wednesday).

Mishima Village has been conducting a trial implementation of this service since September 2025.

Based on resident feedback and usage during this period, the village has decided on a formal full implementation from fiscal year 2026 as part of its childcare support for remote islands.

'Obstetrics & Pediatrics Online' is a service that allows users to consult with over 250 pediatricians, obstetricians, and midwives online, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The 'Pediatrics Online' service was launched in 2016, and currently has approximately 150,000 registered users, is implemented in over 230 local governments, and has accumulated over 300,000 consultations.

Through our service, we will continue to provide support to ensure that Mishima Village residents can easily and confidently consult with specialists online, even in an island environment where obstetricians, pediatricians, and midwives are not permanently stationed, thereby further contributing to the promotion of childcare support policies.

Overcoming medical disparities in remote islands with ICT-based "Online Health and Medical Consultation"

Mishima Village, consisting of the three islands of Takeshima, Iwojima, and Kuroshima in Kagoshima Prefecture, is a small remote island requiring several hours by regular ferry from the mainland. There are no resident obstetricians or pediatricians in the village.

Therefore, in cooperation with medical institutions in Kagoshima City, the village has established generous support systems, including unique subsidies and allowances related to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare.

However, the number of births in Mishima Village has recently ranged from 0 to 3. A village survey revealed that while there is a desire for children, residents are hesitant to have them due to "insufficient support systems."   Text questions are accepted 24 hours a day, and doctors and midwives typically respond via text within 24 hours.

• Nighttime Consultation

  Available for LINE message chat and video calls on weekdays from 6 PM to 10 PM (10-minute slots by reservation). Reservations can be made up to 15 minutes before the consultation starts.

• Daytime Midwife Consultation

  Consultations with midwives via LINE message chat are available without reservation on weekdays from 1 PM to 5 PM.

• Search Everyone's Consultations

  Users can search and view past consultations submitted to our company, along with responses from doctors and midwives.
