NIPONIQUE to Exhibit at Milan Design Week 2026

Kawano Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: 213 Eshogakoga, Ōki Town, Mizuma District, Fukuoka Prefecture, 830-0415, Japan; Representative: Shintaro Kiyonari) will present its interior goods brand NIPONIQUE at Fuorisalone, part of Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026. The exhibition runs from April 21 (Tuesday) to April 26 (Sunday), 2026, in Milan, Italy. NIPONIQUE, rooted in manufacturing from the Chikugo region, proposes new values for architectural materials by integrating diverse Japanese techniques. The exhibit will feature washbasins, kitchen counters made from ceramic, artificial marble, and hand-painted techniques, textiles using Tango chirimen methods, and rush grass. These materials are realized as dining tables, chairs, and lamps through collaboration with designers. The exhibition aims to create a serene world view centered on the aesthetic of "wabi-sabi," exploring spatial possibilities through texture, negative space, and shadows. The event will be held at "Wicky’s Innovative Japanese Cuisine" in Milan and will include a special food collaboration between owner-chef Wicky Priyan and Satoshi Ogawa of "Sushi Ogawa." Exhibition hours are 10:00-17:00 from April 21-24 and 12:00-17:00 from April 25-26. Lunch collaborations are from 12:30-15:00 (April 21-24) and dinner from 19:30-00:00 (April 21-26). The venue is Corso Italia, 6, 20122 Milano MI. NIPONIQUE positions itself as a material brand that understands both Japanese craftsmanship and European trends, offering proposals for textures that align with specific spatial concepts. Products on display include a dining table inspired by Yohen Tenmoku (featuring artificial marble that changes color with light and perspective), portable table lamps (6 types, made from artificial marble by TOTO Ltd. and hand-painted), and an armchair applying Japanese lattice structure technology.
