The City Livability Ranking includes questions regarding preferences for 'desirable towns,' such as 'I want to live in a town with excellent administrative services and childcare support' or 'I want to live in a stylish, status-oriented town.'
As a result of cluster analysis using these questions, it was found that there are five preference types: 'Discerning Affluent,' 'Steady Family,' 'Urban Fun & Single,' 'Thrifty & Single,' and 'Local Attachment.'

Desirable town rankings show a strong tendency for people to vote for towns in their own prefecture where they often go for leisure.
