Daito Trust Construction Co., Ltd. As the first phase, a demonstration experiment for a "postpartum care specialized apartment" will be launched in Nakano Ward, utilizing some floors of apartments managed by our group, equipped with 24-hour resident midwives, a baby nursery, and three meals a day.
In recent years, due to the concentration of medical care in urban areas for childbirth, the employment of grandparents' generation, and the spread of infectious diseases, the number of families who can choose "home-country childbirth" has decreased, and postpartum isolation has become severe. In particular, mental health issues during childcare, such as postpartum depression, affect about one in ten men and women, making the development of private sector-led residential care infrastructure an urgent task in addition to public services.
In this collaboration, Daito Trust Construction's extensive real estate assets will be integrated with With Midwife's network of over 500 midwives and online consultation platform. The aim is to create value for a new asset class, Japan's first "postpartum care specialized apartment," optimized not just as an accommodation facility, but for the "physical and mental recovery" of dual-income households during the first month postpartum and the "acquisition of childcare skills" under expert guidance.
Moving forward, based on the knowledge gained from this demonstration experiment, the goal is to expand to over 100 postpartum care facilities in the Tokyo metropolitan area by 2030.
Daito Trust Construction will leverage its nationwide rental housing property assets to work with With Midwife to realize a "society where children can be born and raised with peace of mind" and create new added value in Japan's rental market.
