The 'kawasakike' guesthouse with a little bit of hospitality opens in Kagawa Prefecture

The 'kawasakike' guesthouse, which has a concierge function and is owned by the owners, will open in the town of Anchi, Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture on June 12, 2026 (Friday).

■ Concept

'A little bit of hospitality'

In the past, hospitality for pilgrims traveling around Shikoku was called 'omote-nai'.

In modern society, where communication breakdown due to digitalization has become a problem, kawasakike creates value through accommodation exchange experiences between the local community and guests, which cannot be replaced by anything, by focusing on the local area and connecting them with modern version 'a little bit of hospitality'.

■ Owner

The operators are the Kawasaki couple, who have long experience in PR and VMD at a certain select shop. After retiring from their previous job due to the pandemic, they left Tokyo and moved to Kagawa Prefecture, where they have no relatives or acquaintances.

The origin was that they realized that the warmth of people and the beauty of the local area enrich travel, such as conversations with local people in the town and sunset from the port. Aiming to become a communicator who conveys the goodness of Kagawa Prefecture from the perspective of a migrant, and to create a place to directly convey that goodness, we have reached the present day.

■ Service

The 'a little bit of hospitality' of kawasakike starts from the moment you make a reservation for your trip.

Before accommodation, digital communication using message functions. After arrival, analog communication by meeting face-to-face, and 'co-editing of travel' that is close to each guest.

■ Facility

The facility is an old folk house located at the intersection of Anchi Town, which has been renovated only the interior and partition without changing the exterior to blend in with the local area. This place is where local people can drop by, enjoy the sunset slowly while feeling the wind from the fishing port in the evening, and sometimes have a meal together at night.

It is neither the distance of a hotel nor the silence of a whole building rental. Because the caring owner couple is always there under one roof.

A new accommodation facility where guests and owners, and sometimes guests and local people, naturally interact.

▶ nikai (Guest Room)

A private room for guests. While retaining the appearance of an old house, we have prepared a new space where you can spend a comfortable time. If you open the window, the scenery of the fishing port and the mountain, and the faint sea-scented wind will quietly flow in. Forget the hustle and bustle of the city and spend a slow time that is different from usual.

▶ hanare (Guest Bathroom)

The guest bathroom is set up in a detached building. The design is a bold renovation of a garden shed, which is often found in a country house, into a bathroom. While soaking in the bathtub, feel the light and sound of the town and spend a special time on your trip.

▶ ikkai (Gallery Shop & Common Space)

A gallery shop & common space where connoisseurship and networks breathe. Products and artworks that the owner likes, kawasakike's special order items and souvenirs are naturally lined up in the living space.

▶ doma (Community Space)

An open dirt floor space where both locals and travelers can drop by. With a drink or snack in hand, conversation naturally arises as a 'local intersection', where you can slowly enjoy the exchange and time that can only be born here while feeling the air and warmth of Anchi Town.

■ Design

The design is handled by UM. Without changing the existing state as much as possible, we boldly change the impression. By removing the floor of the room that was originally a living room and defining the dirt floor and space with a thin wall, we hope that this place will be a center of a new community where the Kawasaki couple's life, guests, local residents, many people, things, and events will interact.

■ Lighting

Lighting direction and production are handled by Yohei Terashima of bowks. By passing light through familiar daily items such as ventilation fan filters and sun-dried goods, they are made into unique lighting shades. By editing the positional relationship between space and light and combining it with the scenery of daily life, they create an emotional and poetic spatial experience.

■ Logo

The logo design is handled by Ryo Kan'ya. The design draws on the concept of kawasakike and the lifestyle of the owner couple. Souvenir items using this design are lined up in the facility.
