Kawaijuku Gakuen, part of the Kawaijuku Group, will hold its overnight exploration learning program for junior high school students, "Marutto Tankyu Tour 2026 Summer," in August. This program goes beyond the classroom, allowing participants to discover issues through real interaction with people facing challenges in society and to deepen their understanding. It aims to foster the ability of junior high school students, who will support the future, to think and act proactively. This year, the program will be held with two themes: "Music & Entertainment" (in Tokyo) and "Food & Science" (in Keihanna Science City). Participants will deepen their interests and curiosities through a 3-day, 2-night exploration learning experience.
Leap Beyond the Everyday, Feel and Think on Site - Get a Head Start on the New Learning the Kawaijuku Group is Tackling -
"Marutto Tankyu" is a series of exploration learning programs that the Kawaijuku Group began in the spring of 2025. Participants step out of their daily lives in classrooms and cram schools into local communities and society, using all five senses to experience the diverse challenges facing the real world and think about solutions.
They visit experts, researchers, companies, and people active in local communities, listen to their stories, and grasp issues from multiple perspectives to get to the heart of the matter. Simultaneously, they experience the formation of a different kind of community by living and sharing meals with peers of different ages and backgrounds.
A scene from last year's tour. Exploration was conducted in Tokachi, Hokkaido, with the theme of food and agriculture. It was an opportunity to feel the passion and ingenuity of the producers.
These initiatives are a preview of the learning at Dalton X Gakuen High School*, scheduled to open in Iwate Prefecture in April 2027, which features "correspondence education x boarding school x local exploration learning." They put into practice the new form of learning that we envision.
* Application for accreditation is in preparation.
This year's themes are "Music & Entertainment" and "Food & Science." We will visit the sites where people who create, support, and research the entertainment and food we encounter daily, listen to them, and identify the attractions and challenges present, then consider them. We kindly request that you introduce this program in your publication as an opportunity for junior high school students to learn about and practice the proactive thinking and action skills needed in future society. We also welcome on-site coverage. Please cover the growth of junior high school students from all over the country as they deepen their learning through exploration.
Encountering Cutting-Edge Acoustic Technology and Experienced Voice Actors Who Have Appeared in Numerous Works Shifts Perspective from Receiver to Sender - Music & Entertainment Edition -
This program marks the first exploration learning in the entertainment field, held in Tokyo, the center of Japan's entertainment and culture. With the theme "How is Emotion Designed?", participants will explore how entertainment such as music, web videos, and VTubers, which we enjoy daily, is designed and delivered, from the perspective of creators and performers. They will visit Japan's premier recording studios to experience the latest recording technology and challenge themselves to create short videos in content production. This will allow them to experience a shift in perspective from being information receivers to senders.
Furthermore, Ms. Kikuko Inoue, who has been active as a voice actor for over 30 years, and Ms. Kanon Yasoha, who debuted as a virtual pianist from KADOKAWA/Dwango, will share their insights on what constitutes heartfelt expression from the standpoint of performers.

Exploring Broadly from Tea and Traditional Foods in the Homeland of Uji Tea to the Forefront of "The Science of Deliciousness" ~Food & Science Edition~
The exploration theme is "How is deliciousness created, and how do we perceive it?" We casually consume various "foods" every day. Why do we perceive them as "delicious"? Can "deliciousness" be scientifically proven? Participants will experience the forefront of "The Science of Deliciousness" at the Nara Institute of Science and Technology, which conducts cutting-edge research.
The tour also focuses on Japan's traditional food culture. We will visit Uji, Kyoto, a region that has cultivated tea since the Kamakura period and is one of Japan's three major tea-producing areas, and experience actual tea picking and traditional local cuisine preparation. Participants will consider sustainable food lifestyles in harmony with nature and how to pass on and promote them as culture and tradition. This valuable exploration opportunity, made possible by the Keihanna Science City where cutting-edge and traditional cultures intersect, will deepen junior high school students' interests.
