Dalton School Tokyo Campus (Shibuya Ward) and Nagoya Campus (Nagoya City), which provide early childhood and child education under the Kawaijuku Group, will hold summer seminars from July to August for children aged 1 to 3rd grade elementary school students. Creative and inquiry-based learning will be conducted with themes tailored to age and developmental stage. This year, the Tokyo Campus will newly offer parent-child workshops for 1-year-olds. The Nagoya Campus will introduce cooking and English for preschoolers.

Learn by Making, Discover by Playing. A Summer to Find the "Joy of Learning" at Dalton School

Dalton School conducts classes where children discover for themselves and deepen their learning while enjoying it, based on a curriculum that respects each child's individuality and freedom, following the "Dalton Plan."

This seminar is a short-term, intensive, experiential program for infants to elementary school students, centered around "play" and "inquiry." This time, we have prepared a variety of programs with the theme of "summer."

The parent-child seminar for 1-year-olds (including 2-year-olds at the Nagoya Campus) is popular for its programs that stimulate the five senses, and this year it will also be newly established at the Tokyo Campus.

As an example, the "Collage Play" at the Nagoya Campus involves tearing and folding favorite materials to enjoy the textures and sounds while creating original "sea creatures." At the Tokyo Campus, children will try agar-agar play and summer-themed art creation. The program aims to deepen parent-child interaction and provide hints that can be incorporated into daily childcare.

In the preschool and elementary school courses, children will engage in "inquiry activities" with age-appropriate themes. The preschool course will discover "mysteries" through themes such as "space" and "food/cooking." They will work intensively through observation, experiments, and creation, fostering expressiveness and imagination.

The elementary school course will deepen learning from multiple perspectives, including mathematics and science, with themes such as "New Product Planning (Nagoya Campus)" and "World Travel (Tokyo Campus)," with final presentations of their achievements. Through the entire process of researching, thinking, organizing, and presenting, they will build a foundation for logical thinking and presentation skills.

This is a valuable experience for preschoolers and elementary school students to experience the Dalton Plan, which fosters fundamental learning skills such as observation, trial-and-error, communication, and expression, rather than just play. We kindly request that you introduce this in your publication. We also welcome coverage on the day.
