Dalton School Tokyo and Dalton Tokyo Gakuen Middle/High School Hold Summer Seminar for 4th-6th Graders – Inquiry-Based Learning with Teachers and State-of-the-Art STEAM Lab

Dalton School Tokyo (Shibuya-ku), which provides early childhood and elementary education as part of the Kawai Juku Group, will hold an inquiry-based summer seminar for 4th to 6th graders on August 21 (Fri) to 23 (Sun) during the latter part of summer vacation. The seminar will be held at the affiliated Dalton Tokyo Gakuen Middle and High School (Chofu City), with faculty from the school providing instruction and management. Five inquiry-based learning sessions will be conducted using familiar elementary school topics such as soap bubbles, snacks, and 50-meter sprints. Utilizing the school’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the STEAM building, the program aims to stimulate children’s curiosity and desire to explore.

Learn one step ahead for the future! Three days of summer vacation

The after-school program for elementary school students at Dalton School uses a unique curriculum centered on hands-on experiments and dialogue with teachers, enabling children to discover rules and principles on their own and acquire practical knowledge.

The upper elementary grades are a critical period for learning the basics of abstract thinking, forming hypotheses, and testing them—skills that become increasingly important in middle school and beyond. In response to the significance of this period and requests from children and parents, this year marks the first summer seminar for upper elementary students.

In this seminar, teachers from Dalton Tokyo Gakuen Middle and High School will offer specially designed programs for the event. Each program combines experiments, programming, and field observations based on themes from everyday life and society, sparking the intellectual curiosity of elementary school students.

Over three days of summer vacation, participants will be exposed to advanced learning that can also be used for independent research. We hope you will widely introduce this in your media. On-site coverage on the day is also welcome.
