Dalton School Nagoya, part of the Kawaijuku Group, which provides early childhood and elementary education, will hold its 'Open Campus 2026' on Sunday, May 31. This year, in addition to the traditional experiential programs for children aged 1 to third grade elementary school, a new 'Dalton Talk Salon' will be held for 0-year-olds and families expecting a child. The event will introduce the unique initiatives and insights of Dalton School, which fosters children's autonomy and spirit of inquiry.

Open Campus to Experience the Dalton Plan with Your Child

The Dalton Plan, born in America over 100 years ago, is an educational model proposed by Helen Parkhurst that emphasizes learning tailored to each child's interests and development.

This Open Campus offers various programs where parents and children can experience its characteristics firsthand.

Programs for 1 and 2-year-olds, participating with their guardians, stimulate the five senses through colors, sounds, and textures, fostering the development of fine motor skills and concentration, while also allowing observation of the budding communication skills with others.

Programs for 3 to 5-year-olds cultivate expressive power and thinking skills through diverse activities such as 'Creation Booths' and 'Thinking Labs.' Children can experience the joy of expressing themselves using colors, materials, and language.

Furthermore, for elementary school students attending after school, a new 'Inquiry Lab' has been added this year. Through trial and error, focusing on how to fold paper airplanes to fly for a long time, students will develop logical thinking and collaborative skills.

Also new this year is the 'Dalton Talk Salon' for 0-year-olds and expectant parents. The former principal of Dalton School, who was involved in developing infant and early childhood programs, will provide easy-to-understand explanations about the amazing abilities of newborns and the remarkable development during infancy (from 0 to 1 year old). Advice will also be given on how to support their healthy growth.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn about Dalton School's unique programs. We would be grateful if you could widely disseminate this information through your media. We also welcome coverage on the day of the event.
