Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is participating in the "irodori project" for the first time and will begin exhibiting mini pianos decorated with paintings created by artists with disabilities at the JR Hamamatsu Station Shinkansen Concourse Small Exhibition Space starting April 24.
Our company has joined the "irodori project" for the first time, an initiative that aims to transmit art pieces created by people with disabilities from Hamamatsu to the rest of the country and add color to society through art. With the desire to create opportunities for artists to play an active role, we collaborated with Top Co., Ltd., which operates the "irodori project," and Shizuoka University of Art and Culture, to decorate our mini pianos with colorful paintings expressed by artists with free ideas.
Five different painting artworks were applied to each of the five mini pianos, inspiring five genres of music. At the JR Hamamatsu Station Shinkansen Concourse Small Exhibition Space, we will exhibit the colorful mini pianos and project original videos to the sound of newly written piano pieces.
Please enjoy this unique collaboration created through industry-academia partnerships in Hamamatsu.

■ Expressive Activities as Envisioned by Kawai Musical Instruments Manufacturing
Our company will soon reach its 100th anniversary of continuously making pianos. Over our long history, in addition to piano manufacturing, we have held music, painting/modeling, and physical education classes, aiming to face each student's individuality and nurture their creativity in each class. When hearing the word "piano," some may have an image of it being highly formal and unapproachable. However, because you can produce beautiful sounds just by striking the keys, it can be said to be one of the easiest instruments. We believe that anyone can become an expresser from the moment they strike a key.
