Screenwriter Yuji Sakamoto's Play 'The Death Flute' to be Published as Original Script Book

Kawade Shobo Shinsha will release the script for the play 'The Death Flute' by acclaimed writer Yuji Sakamoto on July 22, 2026. Originally written for a 2024 performance produced by and starring Ken Yasuda along with Kento Hayashi, the story is set in a kitchen within a wartime buffer zone. It follows the humorous and eerie dialogue between two cooks from opposing nations. The book, featuring a revised script for the 2026 re-run, includes a special talk between Yasuda and Sakamoto. Pre-sales begin July 3 at the Tokyo IMM Theater during the tour's opening night.
