The "You What Are You Doing in the Japanese Publishing World?" fair, a joint project by seven publishing companies, is an unprecedented attempt to bring together a cross-genre lineup of 15 titles. Nine individuals with completely different origins, careers, and tastes selected books that became the catalyst for them to come to Japan, learn Japanese, and work in Japanese publishing, as well as books they deeply cherish or were strongly impressed by. The selections range from novels, essays, and business books to dictionaries, picture books, and comics.

Works such as Yukio Mishima's "The Voices of the Heroic Dead," Mizuki Tsujimura's "Lonely Castle in the Mirror," and Yoshito Usui's "Crayon Shin-chan" are featured. The special leaflets distributed at participating stores and the POPs on display vividly describe each selector's encounter with the book and their thoughts on the respective works.
