On March 6, 2026, the NPO Karatsu Farm & Food surprised 25 fifth-grade students and their homeroom teacher at Karatsu Municipal Yobuko Elementary School with 27 whale keychains, upcycled from approximately 100 plastic bottle caps.
The creation of these keychains was inspired by feedback from the children after their marine education lessons, where some students wrote, "I want a keychain!" Working alongside the homeroom teacher, the design was finalized using the whale as a motif to symbolize the local seas of Yobuko.

The Story Behind the Keychains
For four years since 2022, the NPO Karatsu Farm & Food has collaborated continuously with Yobuko Elementary School to conduct beach cleanups and marine education (ESD).
Among the feedback submitted by children after these activities, several students wrote that they wanted a keychain. This request sparked the production of these items. The design was developed in collaboration with the teacher, choosing the whale as a motif to represent the local Yobuko sea.
