Experience Japanese Incense Culture and Future Scents: "Kaori Haku 2026" Held in Ginza (April 18 - May 17)

The "Kaori Haku 2026" event, where visitors can experience Japanese incense culture, will be held mainly in the Ginza area for approximately one month, from Saturday, April 18, 2026 (Incense Day) to Sunday, May 17, 2026. "Kaori Haku" is a touring event that started in Ginza and Kyoto in 2024. Last year, over 4,000 people participated in the "Incense Stamp Rally," providing an opportunity for many to become familiar with Japanese incense culture. The third installment in 2026 will expand further to include the Kamakura area. Following last year, Kyukyodo, Shoyeido, Nippon Kodo (Koju), and Muji Ginza will participate in the Ginza area. Furthermore, this year, stamp rallies and sales of limited-edition products will also be held at Kyukyodo stores in Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Ikebukuro. This year's theme is "Scents Connecting to Tomorrow -Where Scents Meet Tomorrow-". In line with this theme, three venerable incense brands—Kyukyodo, Shoyeido, and Nippon Kodo—have jointly developed a limited-edition collaborative incense series for Kaori Haku, "TRINEX (Trinex) " (1,760 yen each, tax included). The lineup includes three types: "Ichigo Parfait / Strawberry Parfait" by Kyukyodo, "MISORA" by Shoyeido, and "Heritage Hybrid 2026" by Nippon Kodo. This limited series, unique to Kaori Haku, expresses "future scents" with different approaches, based on the history and sensibilities of each company. In the Ginza area, a total of 10 programs and 65 experiential workshops will be held at various venerable incense stores. A diverse range of programs will be offered to experience Japanese incense culture, including "Kodo Experience," one of the three major traditional arts, workshops to create original scented sachets by blending scents yourself, "Kikizake-kai" to enjoy the aroma of sake, and "Monko Experience" to appreciate the scent of precious incense wood. Furthermore, opportunities to encounter Japanese aromatic woods such as hinoki and hiba, and a special project exploring the relationship between "The Tale of Genji" and scents, will also be available.
