Red Telephone Box from the UK Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai Installed at Kansai International Airport!

Kansai Airports announces that the red telephone box previously located in front of the UK Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai has been installed at Kansai International Airport as a legacy of the Expo.

This red telephone box was actually used on the streets of the UK. At the Expo site, it was decorated with plants such as ivy and gained popularity as a beautiful, quintessentially British photo spot.

During Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, various exchange events took place between the UK and Japan, further deepening the relationship between the two countries, as well as between the UK and the Osaka-Kansai region. To commemorate this, the telephone box was donated to the airport as a symbol of friendship between the two nations. A commemorative ceremony was held today, with British Consul General in Osaka, Michael Bryce, and others in attendance.

At the ceremony, Michael Bryce remarked, 'Both the telephone box and the airport share the role of connecting people from all over the world. I hope that many people who see this telephone box will be reminded of the Expo and the UK.' Yoshiyuki Yamaya, Representative Director and CEO of Kansai Airports, commented, 'This telephone box is a British icon that has been cherished for a long time. I feel an affinity with it, as Kansai International Airport has also been committed to coexistence with nature on an artificial island. We want to cherish this wonderful telephone box and the philosophy of the Expo together.' We hope that many people will enjoy it as a new photo spot at Kansai International Airport and as a part of the wonderful record of the Expo.
