How about enjoying a Japanese sweets-making experience in early summer Kyoto during the Golden Week holidays?

At Kameya Yoshinaga's Kyoto sweets-making class, we are offering a hands-on experience to make one type of 'Nerikiri' and one type of 'Kinton'. You will enjoy the finished 'Kinton' on the spot with warm matcha tea. The 'Nerikiri' can be taken home, making it perfect for souvenirs or gifts. Furthermore, there will be demonstrations of dry sweets making by our craftsmen, allowing you to see the process of making Japanese sweets up close.

Held on May 4th (Tue) and 5th (Wed): Children's Day

Kinton <Iris> This is a refreshing kinton featuring the motif of the iris, which is displayed on Boy's Festival. It is made by wrapping coarse sweet bean paste with minced kinton paste into a round shape and garnishing it with a flower.

Nerikiri <Carp Streamer> A nerikiri modeled after an adorable carp streamer. After shading and wrapping the bean paste, tools are used to add scales and stripes, and it is finished by decorating the eyes.

Held on May 8th (Fri) and 9th (Sat): Mother's Day
