[Important] Japan Association of Certified Public Accountants Launches School Education Support Site "Kaikei Tankyu Lab"

The Japan Association of Certified Public Accountants (JICPA) (Location: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; Chairman: Narito Minami) has launched "Kaikei Tankyu Lab," a school education support website, jointly operated with The Japan Educational Press Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President: Mikinaga Kobayashi).

Currently, based on the explanations in the current Course of Study, "corporate accounting" and "utilization of accounting information" are being covered in junior high school social studies and high school civics subjects.

While "accounting" can sometimes be perceived as specialized and difficult, in actual educational settings, incorporating "accounting" into existing economic units enriches students' learning experiences through practical teaching methods.

"Kaikei Tankyu Lab" is a website designed to support such lesson planning. It provides teachers and those involved in school education with useful information and hints for incorporating accounting into their lessons. The site will offer a variety of information, including teaching materials and resources that can be immediately used in classes and for curriculum research, as well as reports summarizing lessons that cover "accounting" from a teacher's perspective, aiming to meet the "desire to know" in schools and help discover "what to teach."

■JICPA (Japan Association of Certified Public Accountants)

JICPA is the sole professional organization of certified public accountants in Japan. It was established as a voluntary organization in 1949 (Showa 24) and became a special corporation as stipulated by the Certified Public Accountants Act in 1966 (Showa 41). In April 2004 (Heisei 16), it became a private-sector organization established by special law (special private-sector corporation).

JICPA guides, communicates with, and supervises its members (certified public accountants and audit firms) to maintain their dignity and improve and advance audit certification services. It also handles affairs related to the registration of certified public accountants. Furthermore, it operates 16 regional committees as branches throughout the country, engaging in community-based activities. In addition, as an organization of accounting professionals, it actively promotes accounting literacy. Through these activities, it contributes to the establishment and development of a fair economic society.
