JTOWER Inc. (President & CEO: Atsushi Tanaka, Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo) announced today that it has been selected as the winning bidder for frequencies in 13 regions within the 26.8-27.0GHz band in the "Price Competition (Frequency Auction) for the Promotion of 5th Generation Mobile Communication Systems in the 26GHz Band."

This marks the first instance in Japan where an infrastructure sharing provider has received certification for frequency allocation. With this, JTOWER will be able to develop communication environments utilizing exclusively allocated frequencies, in addition to its existing indoor infrastructure sharing and outdoor tower sharing services, realizing a globally pioneering sharing model.

The "Price Competition for the Promotion of 5th Generation Mobile Communication Systems in the 26GHz Band," conducted by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, was implemented based on a new frequency allocation method introduced for high-frequency bands exceeding 6GHz. Among the target frequencies, a national band covering the entire country and regional bands enabling selective deployment on a municipal basis were established. The regional bands are positioned as dedicated bands to promote the entry of new and regional businesses.

JTOWER has been awarded winning bids in the regional band (26.8-27.0GHz) for 13 areas, including Tokyo's 23 wards, Yokohama City, Osaka City, Nagoya City, Fukuoka City, and Chiba City.

In recent years, lifestyles utilizing AI have become more common, in addition to video playback and web conferencing, leading to an increase in situations where large amounts of data are handled daily. Consequently, data traffic, particularly in mobile communications, is expected to continue to grow, making the utilization of high-frequency bands capable of high-speed, high-capacity communication crucial for addressing this demand.

In the regions where JTOWER has secured bids, concerns exist about chronic high-traffic environments in urban areas. Anticipating the diverse communication demands arising from this, JTOWER plans to leverage these frequencies for further efficient network development. Building on its extensive track record in developing communication environments, including indoor infrastructure sharing, outdoor tower sharing, and multi-functional poles, JTOWER will proceed with the development and operation of communication environments tailored to the challenges and demands of each region.

As a pioneer in infrastructure sharing in Japan, JTOWER will continue to contribute to society through valuable business development by maximizing its accumulated technological capabilities and expertise.
