JTEKT Corporation (Headquarters: Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture; President: Yoshihito Kondo; hereinafter "JTEKT") has named its steer-by-wire system "Syncusteer™" and has applied for trademark registration. Through this Syncusteer™, we will promote proposals that contribute to creating customer value and solving challenges in next-generation mobility. Based on the mission of "Connecting technologies, bringing smiles to the Earth and all who work on it," the JTEKT Group has set the JTEKT Group 2030 Vision as "A solution provider that creates the future of mobility society through manufacturing and manufacturing equipment." To transform into this solution provider, we are engaged in corporate activities with two main pillars: adding high value to existing products and challenging new areas. The steer-by-wire system, which we are now proposing to customers as "Syncusteer™," is a prime example of a solution that combines the competencies JTEKT Group has cultivated as a pioneer in steering systems. It brings comfort and freedom to the driving experience and cabin space of automobiles, creating and providing the future of mobility society. Background and Aim of Trademark Application JTEKT was the first in the world to mass-produce electric power steering (hereinafter EPS) in 1988. Since then, looking ahead to the future of mobility society, we have been developing a linkless steer-by-wire system that mechanically disconnects the steering unit and the turning unit. JTEKT is proud that its steer-by-wire system is No.1 & Only One in terms of safety and comfort, and we have decided to apply for trademark registration to differentiate it from other companies' products. This steer-by-wire system is installed in LEXUS "RZ" and Toyota Motor Corporation's "e-Palette." Going forward, we will further expand our proposals for "Syncusteer™" to customers considering the adoption of steer-by-wire. LEXUS is a registered trademark of Toyota Motor Corporation. Concept of Name and Logo ■ Name Syncusteer™: The name "Syncusteer™" (pronounced "Shinkasutea") embodies our promise to deliver a more comfortable and safe driving experience to everyone. It is a coined word composed of SYNC (synchronization/cooperation), US (customers/JTEKT-made), and STEER (steering). SYNC symbolizes the smooth alignment of the driver and vehicle state, and the natural cooperation between machine and human. US embodies JTEKT's pride and responsibility in developing this unique technology. Furthermore, STEER represents steering itself, indicating the core of JTEKT's long-cultivated steering technology. The term "Shinka" also carries the meanings of evolution (進化), deepening (深化), and true value (真価), expressing the innovation and value that steer-by-wire, as a next-generation steering system, can provide. ■ Logo The new logo is designed with the concept of the initial "S" of "Syncusteer™," the "J" symbolizing JTEKT, arrows and circles representing synchronization (cooperation), and infinite expansion. The overall form is composed of curves reminiscent of "S," while the black part at the bottom incorporates the shape of "J." By separating the upper and lower shapes, the linkless structure is expressed, and the opposing upper and lower arrows represent the high coordination of the upper and lower systems, and the cooperation between humans and machines. Furthermore, the infinity symbol (∞) is highlighted in white in the center, indicating diversity, expandability, and high degree of freedom. In addition, the overall rounded and soft shape of the logo also expresses its adaptability to new handle shapes from conventional steering wheels. These elements combine to create a design that is both approachable and future-oriented. Future Outlook The JTEKT Group will further enhance its technological capabilities in products and services that contribute to improving mobility safety, driving performance, and environmental performance by combining its core competencies. And we will continue to propose new value to customers as a solution provider that can contribute to the future of mobility society. ・Steer-by-wire system and backup power supply (equipped with Libuddy®) adopted in LEXUS RZ https://www.jtekt.co.jp/news/2025/004767.html
