JTEKT: President's Message to New Employees

JTEKT Corporation (Headquarters: Kariya City, Aichi Prefecture, hereinafter "JTEKT") held an entrance ceremony jointly with its group companies at Aichi Sky Expo on April 1st.

We would like to introduce the welcome address for new employees by Mr. Yoshito Kondo, President and Representative Director of JTEKT, at this entrance ceremony, as follows:

To all new employees, congratulations on joining our company.

And, "Welcome to the JTEKT Group."

Seeing the bright faces of all of you who have become members of the JTEKT Group, I feel incredibly encouraged and confident that new colleagues have joined us who will lead the JTEKT Group to be even stronger and in a better direction.

First, to all of you embarking on your professional journey starting today, I would like to convey what kind of aspirations the JTEKT Group values as a company.

At JTEKT, we have a Mission, Vision, and Value – MVV – that all of us rely on. Today, I would like to speak from the perspective of "how this MVV connects to your own work."

First, our Mission.

Our mission is encapsulated in the words: "Connecting technology, bringing smiles to the Earth and all who work on it."

The company name JTEKT is derived from:

Joint (Tsunagu - connecting)

Joy (Yorokobi - joy)

Japan (Nihon - Japan)

It was born from the initial "J" of each word and the Greek word "TEKTON," which refers to a person with excellent skills or technology.

As embedded in our company name, our mission is to connect technology and create smiles through Joint Technology.

―Connecting technologies.

―Connecting people and technology.

―And connecting eras and technology.

Our work may not always be glamorous, but it invisibly supports society's safety and trust. Every single task you will undertake from now on is an extension of this mission. Please keep this mission in mind as you approach your work.

Next is our Vision.

The JTEKT Group aims to be a "solution provider that creates the future of a mobility society with manufacturing and manufacturing equipment" by 2030. This expresses our desire to continue providing valuable solutions not only to people but also to the new and expanding mobility society, by utilizing our cultivated manufacturing technologies and know-how more than ever before.

Mobility society is currently undergoing significant changes. This is not an era where the correct answers are predetermined. That is precisely why the perspectives and ideas of you, the young people who will lead JTEKT into the future, will be more important than ever.

And finally, our Value is the common principle we cherish most.

"Yes for All, by All! - Let's do it together for everyone -" This phrase embodies the very working style of JTEKT.

First, accepting others' opinions. Thinking not for oneself, but for others and for society. And completing tasks together with colleagues, not shouldering them alone.

JTEKT is not a company where individuals compete for results. It is a company where we combine our strengths as a team to achieve great outcomes. When faced with difficulties, let's stand together and solve them through "by All" efforts.

However, no matter how noble the words we proclaim, it is "people" who make them a reality. Knowing the words alone changes nothing. Only by taking action do they gain meaning.

Therefore, to all of you who are starting your journey as members of the JTEKT Group today, I have three requests that I hope you will keep in mind.

First, cherish every single task before you.

Our Mission, "Connecting technology, bringing smiles to the Earth and all who work on it," is a very grand one. However, there is no need to accomplish big tasks from the very beginning. The work you will face starting today might be mundane and inconspicuous. Nevertheless, each one of these tasks is invariably connected to someone's safety, trust, and happiness. It is by everyone's active participation that we can provide value to our customers.

Your work has meaning. First, believe in that and tackle the tasks before you.

Second, value thinking and acting independently.

The Vision that JTEKT upholds does not merely speak of the future of 2030. Your actions, thoughts, and challenges in the field directly lead to the realization of this Vision, that is, to creating the future.

Instead of just performing the tasks assigned to you, take a moment to consider "why am I doing this work?" and "what value lies ahead?" That perspective is precisely what will power JTEKT's future.

The JTEKT Group has a culture of entrusting young employees with increasing responsibilities. And there are many colleagues who will support you. They will cheer on your passionate aspirations and challenges, so please actively bring forward your proposals.

Third, "Yes for All, by All."

To realize the Mission and Vision of the JTEKT Group, it is important for each and every employee to move forward with the same values. Even if individuals are trying their best, if their efforts are dispersed in different directions, their strength will be diminished. By making "Yes for All, by All" a shared motto, each employee should be able to achieve great results.

Each of you possesses your own strengths and core competencies. By connecting and combining these strengths, you should be able to overcome any high wall. Let's all work together as one: your contemporaries/peers who joined at the same time, seniors, supervisors, and management.

Finally, I would like to offer my sincere encouragement to all of you who are taking your first steps as professionals. Please don't forget the feelings you have today, and boldly take on challenges.
