To commemorate the opening of the Nagakute Battlefield Memorial Museum (Nagakute City, Aichi Prefecture), a new product titled 'Nagakute Battlefield Piyorin Monaka,' featuring the original 'Piyorin' sweet from JR Tokai Food Service Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Nagoya, Aichi; President: Kenichi Iwashita), will be released on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. This product was jointly developed by the Nagakute City Tourism and Exchange Association, Asaiya Seikaho (an 81-year-old traditional Japanese confectionery shop in Nagakute that produces the local specialty 'Kosenjo Monaka'), and students from Aichi Shukutoku University, driven by the desire to 'create a signature souvenir for Nagakute.'
New Confectionery Combining Local Craftsmanship, Gen Z Sensibility, and the World of 'Piyorin'
Based on Asaiya Seikaho's 'Kosenjo Monaka,' this Japanese sweet features a special Piyorin-shaped wafer shell filled with bean paste carefully prepared by artisans. The design of the packaging and the dedicated carrying bag incorporates ideas from university students studying tourism, blending cuteness and fun with the elegance expected of a souvenir.
