Mosaic Art Created from Approximately 450 Used Train Tickets! Hakata Station × Oozora High School × Oozora College

At Hakata Station, a collaborative project with the correspondence high school Oozora High School has resulted in the creation of a mosaic art piece using approximately 450 used train tickets collected at the station.

This artwork was handcrafted over about three months by around 150 high school and university students, transforming tickets that have completed their purpose into art that supports the local community—an environmentally conscious initiative.

The artwork will be on display inside the central ticket gate at Hakata Station from July 3 (Fri) to September 30 (Wed), 2026. Please be sure to view it when visiting Hakata Station.

1. About the Artwork

As part of the Kumamoto Destination Campaign (DC), the artwork features the D&S train "Aso Boy!" and Kumamoto Castle, designed with the concept of inspiring people to visit Kumamoto by train.

Materials: Approximately 450 used train tickets collected at Hakata Station (cut into 1 cm squares)

Creators: Around 150 students from grades 1–3 at Oozora High School and university students from Oozora College

Production Period: April to June 2026 (approximately 3 months)
